Michael and Diandra Douglas have made an impassioned plea to their powerful friends to help them see their son, Cameron Douglas, who’s in solitary confinement while serving time in on drug charges. Page Six is reporting that an email written by Diandra, Cameron’s mother and Michael’s first wife, says:  “We have not seen our son for over a year, and the government is telling us we cannot see our son for TWO YEARS!” She wrote to friends including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Yoko Ono, Charlie Rose and Diane von Furstenberg.  The plea is also addressed to designer Carolina Herrera, Deborah Norville,  hairdresser Frederic Fekkai, Bianca Jagger and Bo Derek. The letter ends by saying:  “Our son Cameron has been sentenced to 9 yrs., the longest sentence ever handed out by the Federal Government for a non violent crime of possession” and, “PLEASE help us by forwarding this petition after signature, to anyone you know who would like to help the cause.” The couple’s plea comes on the heels of Michael’s comments about Cameron’s sentence during his Emmy acceptance speech, when he revealed the prison won’t let him see his son, and in face he hasn’t seen Cameron for a year. Cameron Douglas was sentenced in 2010 to five years behind bars for possessing heroin and dealing meth and cocaine, but that was nearly doubled in 2011 after he was caught with drugs inside prison. He was put in solitary confinement after he tested positive for drugs again in January this year. He also had his leg broken by another inmate after there was reportedly a bounty to injure him. The prison in Maryland has not responded. Cameron’s sentence runs till 2018.
