‘A Very Special Christmas’ To Feature John Lennon, Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi, And Many More

Philadelphia, Pa (WOGL) – The holiday music series ‘A Very Special Christmas,’ benefiting the Special Olympics, will celebrate it’s 26th season with the release of A Very Special Christmas: ICON on October 15th.

Since the beginning of the album series in 1987, A Very Special Christmas has generated over $116 million in direct support of Special Olympic programs. These programs have changed the lives of millions of athletes and, thanks to the generous support of top recording artists, this year will bring even more opportunity to participants.

“This album series has been a remarkable gift to our Special Olympics athletes,” said Timothy P. Shriver, Chairman and CEO, Special Olympics. “Thanks to the generosity of countless incredible people across the music industry, the legacy from the ‘A Very Special Christmas’ album series continues to support and sustain our work to bring the joy of sport to people with intellectual disabilities which in turn fosters a global community of acceptance and inclusion.”

The new edition includes 11 holiday tracks from regularly featured artists, as well as some new names. The album includes  John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” Rod Stewart’s “Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!” Aretha Franklin’s “Winter Wonderland,” Sheryl Crow’s “Run Rudolph Run,” and Carrie Underwood’s “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” and many more.
