Over the past 8 years, much has been said about President Barack Obama‘s taste in music. From his selections during his campaign appearances, to the guests invited to perform at various events during his tenure as president, we know that he has a pretty diverse ear for great tunes, even sharing his own playlists for daily activities such as working out or celebrating the holidays. Spotify seems to have noticed too.

In a recent press conference, Obama joked that he would be hoping for a job at the music streaming company when he leaves office. It seems Spotify obliged, and offered the commander-in-chief a newly created position… President of Playlists. The tongue-in-cheek job was posted on their website, and the company’s CEO Daniel Ek tweeted the link to President Obama to give him the head’s up.

While we may all want the gig, it seems the qualification are pretty specific. Under the ‘What you’ll do’ section of the job description, duties would include “Provide world-class leadership to our playlist editors and supporting staff, identify and substantiate new playlist ideas, e.g. from a playlist for shooting hoops with your friends, to the perfect warm up playlist for addressing the nation about health care legislation that bears your name, analyze data and performance of playlists in a clear and transparent manner using all available intelligence, attend daily briefings,” and more very diplomatic musical measures.

And the experience needed gets even more steep when you realize you must be “someone with good team spirit, excellent work ethic, a friendly and warm attitude, and a Nobel Peace Prize.” So yeah, if you have your Nobel Prize collecting dust in your closet, it may finally come in handy.

Although the position is clearly a fictional send-up to the outgoing POTUS, it will be interesting to see where Obama lands when he becomes a civilian after next week’s inauguration.
