Blondie Drops New Single, New Album Due In May

By: Renee Grant

So many of our favorite artists of the 80’s and 90’s are bringing us new music this year, and Blondie is no different. The band is set to return on May 5th with their 11th studio album, Pollinator.

Blondie announced their upcoming release via their Twitter page on January 31st and also debuted a new single titled Fun, adding to the excitement of the news.

Blondie has called in plenty of recognizable names for the album, including  Sia, Joan Jett, Laurie Anderson, Charlie XCX, Johnny Marr, Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio and the Strokes’ Nick Valensi.

The LP is produced by John Congleton who has also worked with Depeche Mode & St. Vincent. It was the last album recorded at New York’s legendary The Magic Shop recording studio, where music for David Bowie’s final project Blackstar was  also recorded. The studio has since closed due to rising rent costs.

Pollinator is the follow-up album to the group’s Ghosts of Download released in 2014.

Check out the first single and the track listing for Pollinator below.
