A yearly gathering of Grateful Dead fans is set to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the band’s 1977 concert film The Grateful Dead Movie. Deadheads all over the country will celebrate by watching the film in cinemas nationwide.

The film depicts the band’s farewell shows at San Francisco’s Winterland in October 1974. Organized by Fathom Events, now in the seventh year, the film will be shown at 7PM on April 20th local time.

In addition to the movie screening, fans will be treated to a never-before-seen mini-documentary about the group’s iconic May 8th, 1977 concert at Cornell University. The mini-doc includes new interviews with fans who attended the infamous show.

An exclusive excerpt from the upcoming documentary Long Strange Trip will also be a part of the screening Meet-Up. The film debuted earlier this year at Sundance and arrives on Amazon Prime Video in May.

“Grateful Dead fans across the country share a special connection with each other and with their favorite band,” John Rubey, Fathom Events CEO, says via statement. “Gathering these dedicated fans together to experience exciting content from their favorite artists is at the core of what we do, and this event is a great example of that.”

See the trailer for the film below.

Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow, March 24th through the Fathom Events website.
