Nintendo May Have Plans Of Releasing An SNES Mini

By: Renee Grant

After the success of Nintendo’s NES Mini release last Christmas, rumors are starting to swirl there could be a smaller version of the gaming company’s second console release, the Super Nintendo or SNES.

The brand announced this week that they would be discontinuing the NES Classic Edition system, which has been notoriously hard to come by since the console’s release during the 2016 holiday season. The news saddened many fans who have been hoping to score one but have been unable to buy one due to the high demand. The consoles can’t seem to stay on the shelves even now. The system was a tiny version of the original gray box, not taking physical cartridges like its predecessor, but running 30 pre-installed popular classic titles such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Castlevania and more.

Now, speculation that the gaming industry titan could be gearing up to introduce a new version of their Super Nintendo console which featured a wide variety of games, including the beginnings of the Final Fantasy franchise and sequels to games made popular by the original such as Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and Super Mario Kart.

While an official list of games hasn’t been released, and even though the manufacturing of the console hasn’t been confirmed, fans are already dreaming of a Christmas morning with Mario. We can all dream!
