One year ago, the music world experienced a loss that still seems surreal. On April 21, 2016, Prince Rogers Nelson left a void in the world that can never be filled. As fans mark the time since his passing, his friends and former bandmates look to honor the late legend with tours that feature his incredible music. One of those friends, Morris Day, released a tribute song to his friend in February titled Over That Rainbow. Today, he shared the video for that song.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about the moment he got the news of Prince’s death, “It was a bad day,” Day says. “When I found out it was really him [that died] it didn’t really hit me. It took a while to sink in.”

“I thought maybe something wasn’t right. I thought, he looked thin, even though he always looks fragile,” he continues. “After he passed away, I just wondered if he knew something that he wasn’t telling me. I just felt like he knew. Like he knew that something wasn’t right. Maybe he said it in just being adamant about seeing us again. Maybe that was a sign in itself.”

As we spend the day commemorating his contributions to art, music, and life, take a moment to watch Day’s video below and remember the awesome spirit that was Prince.
