A previously unaired interview with the late, great Chuck Berry recorded in the 70’s, Chuck Berry 40 Years On, is set to broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music on June 11th at 1PM.

The Johnny B. Goode singer rarely gave interviews throughout his career, and when he did he was notoriously guarded so this will be an interesting one to hear.

Anthony Wall is the documentarian responsible for this rare look into Berry’s life, having taped the interviews while working as a rock critic for the Morning Star. Wall edited the interview together with Berry’s music and quotes from other interviews he’d done with Chuck’s label-mate Muddy Waters, and rocker Carl Perkins.

Wall shopped the interview to Radio 1 when it was finished, but he declined when they said they only wanted the raw interviews. For forty years, the interview was unheard on air, until now.
