Prince‘s music isn’t the only music hiding at Paisley Park. A new song by Prince’s late father, John L. Nelson, and produced at the famed studio compound will be released today (July 29) to mark what would have been the late musician’s 101st birthday.

Prince’s heir and half-sister, Sharon Nelson, produced the Jazz-tinged track, which is the first single from an upcoming LP titled Don’t Play With Love, The John L. Nelson Project. The project is due out on October 27th.

As of today, the track is available for sale digitally and is available to hear through streaming services.

John Nelson was a famed Jazz pianist who co-wrote with his superstar son on some of his most famous tracks including Computer Blue from the film Purple Rain and the soundtrack of the same name. Nelson died in 2001 at the age of 85.

“We are making his music available for the world to hear,” Sharon Nelson said in a statement. “Contrary to what has been written about our dad, he was a loving, caring, hardworking father, and a prolific jazz musician most notably known as the father of the musical genius, our brother Prince.”

Sharon produced the album at Paisley Park from her father’s sheet music back in January. Prince had no hand in the production prior to his passing last April.

“Our dad wrote and composed many songs, but they were never recorded until now. He was Prince’s musical inspiration, and this project is very special because it was recorded in Paisley Park,” Sharon says. “This music was destined to come out and we are sure you will enjoy the masterful works of John L. Nelson.”
