That musical, Girl From the North Country, is set in Duluth, Minnesota, and occurs in 1934, a decade before Dylan’s birth in the area. The story centers around guest house owner Nick Laine is hoping for a fun Thanksgiving but his wife, Elizabeth has become severely depressed due to the death her daughter, which she blames on Laine.
The story weaves together issues of race, class, and ambition, all with a soundtrack from the incomparable Dylan.
Dylan’s work was infamously honored with a Nobel Prize in Literature last year (2016). A museum dedicated to his work is also planned in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
