One of TV’s most beloved shows is making a return thanks to Seth Meyers! The Munsters reboot is now in development at NBC.

The show will be inspired by the original, with the family trying to maintain their identity as they strive to fit in in a Brooklyn hipster neighborhood.

Jill Kargman is writing the script and executive producing, alongside Meyers and Mike Shoemaker.

The original series ran for two seasons, airing 70 episodes from 1964 to 1966. Fred Gwynne played Frankenstein’s creation, Herman Munster, Yvonne De Carlo starred as his bride Lily Munster, Al Lewis played the loveable vampire grandfather Grandpa Munster, Beverly Owen, and later Pat Priest, played the role of their teenage niece, the only “normal” one in the family, Marilyn, and Butch Patrick portrayed the role of Eddie Munster, Lily and Herman’s werewolf son.

A revival of the series was attempted in 2012 in a pilot called Mockingbird Lane with Jerry O’Connell as Herman, Portia de Rossi as Lily, and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. It aired as a Halloween special that year on NBC, but the networked ultimately passed on ordering the series.
