Many names have been tossed around as possible judges for the reboot of American Idol later this year with only Katy Perry confirmed so far, but she could soon have a partner on the stage. Rumors are swirling that David Hasselhoff is in talks to become a judge on the show.
Other names that have been in the running have been Lionel Richie, Nile Rodgers, Keith Urban, and a few others.
“David is interested in the role and his management have made contact with the show’s executives with a view to working out a deal,” a source tells the New York Daily News.
The network has yet to decide if they will feature three or four judges in the reboot of the show, but Ryan Seacrest has been confirmed to return as the series’ host.
“This is the type of show he does as much for his passion for this work as for the money,” the source says. “He has always been vocal about his love for these live reality shows, and could never stop praising what he had achieved through ‘AGT.'”
The Daily News article also reveals there is “serious talk” of a Knight Rider comeback featuring Hasselhoff, last rebooted in 2008 on NBC. That series was cancelled in 2009 due to poor ratings.
Currently, Hasselhoff is promoting his new movie Killing Hasselhoff, which follows a crazed club owner who hopes to win millions if he kills off The Hoff.
