Rumors are swirling that Luke Skywalker may join the Dark Side in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi film and Mark Hamill isn’t making it any easier to disprove the theory.
In a Twitter post yesterday (August 30th), Hamill single-handedly turned things up a notch when he posted a photo of himself dressed as Luke Skywalker, the hero of the original film trilogy, dressed in a much darker look than his usual brown and cream Jedi cloak. The photo is from a Hungarian magazine cover.
“Finally! In Hungary I’m a cover-boy!” Hamill captions the photo in Hungarian.
In the photo, Hamill dons a black leather cape, not quite the look we’ve all come to know. Users have taken to Twitter to speculate on the reasons behind Skywalker’s dark look.
While there’s no concrete proof that Luke joins the Dark Side like his father Darth Vader, it’s not necessarily a far-fetched idea. In the years since the original story, Luke has become a Jedi Master, and with so much happening in the republic, we could see a major shift in the story when the eighth installment of the franchise hits theaters in December of 2018.
