If you’re a fan of standup comedy, Netflix has you covered. In a new trailer for the streaming giant’s comedy campaign which promotes upcoming specials from some of your favorites, we see Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock “ruining” some of Netflix’s biggest shows.
Watching Seinfeld taunt House of Cards‘ Frank Underwood while he stares down the camera with his icy glare, Chappelle as he asks the kids of Stranger Things to erase his internet history and Ellen tell John Lithgow‘s Winston Churchill in The Crown that he has a bad case of halitosis is even funnier than you’d expect!
The marketing campaign began earlier this month (September 2017) in Los Angeles, and New York with billboards cropping up proclaiming “Netflix is a joke.” Having already taken TV to a new level, Netflix is positioning itself to be the go-to for comedies fresh off the success of Chappelle’s incredibly successful return to one-hour specials in the spring. The specials immediately became Netflix’s most-watched standup specials ever, no small feat for the most popular TV streaming service.
Be on the lookout for Netflix’s upcoming comedy specials including Patton Oswalt, and all of the comedians in the trailer video below. Who’s special are you most looking forward to?
