The owner of an iconic Philly dive bar has been immortalized on the cover of a new book featuring personal accounts from fans who personally met the superstar.

Patti Brett of Doobies Bar in Rittenhouse features in a photo of David Bowie on the cover of the book. Brett’s bar is covered in Bowie memorabilia, and the jukebox at her famous watering hole is filled with albums from Ziggy Stardust.

Brett is also the mastermind behind Philly Loves Bowie Week.

Patti met up with a fellow Bowie fan in the summer of 2016 who shared the concept of the book with her, a tome featuring stories from the perspective of the fans instead of a writer. Altogether, 60 writers put the stories together, about 85 in total. Brett has eight stories featured in the book.

The photo of Brett and Bowie comes from a fateful night in 1974 when he invited her and her friends to Sigma Sound recording studio to listen to freshly recorded tracks for the album that would become Young Americans.

The book is available now via Amazon and iUniverse.
