Andrew Garfield talked with Marilyn Russell Wednesday morning about his new movie Breathe that hit theaters earlier this month. Garfield stars as Robin Cavendish, an athletic extrovert that travels to Kenya in the 1950s and contracts the Polio virus.
Breathe is the inspiring true love story of Robin (Garfield) and Diana Cavendish (Claire Foy), an adventurous couple who refuse to give up in the face of a devastating disease. Their heartwarming celebration of human possibility marks the directorial debut of Andy Serkis.
Garfield tells WOGL, “I think these kinds of stories show us all what we’re capable of. I think Robin is all of us in that way. He’s very ordinary just like all the rest of us, and if he was able to make such joy and beauty and meaning out of such difficulty and suffering then I think there’s hope for the rest of us. “
