A tribute concert for George Michael has apparently been blocked by the family of the late star Music News reports.

Esther Rantzen, a British television personality, says she had plans of putting on a tribute show shortly after Michael’s passing in December 2016. She had hoped to put on the show at London’s Royal Albert Hall and to use the event to raise funds for Childline, a charity that Michael actively supported throughout his life. Rantzen says the plans were scrapped by relatives of the late singer.

“There will no longer be a tribute concert because his family said no,” she said. “It was a real shame as I’d have loved to celebrate his music and give the fans a chance to say goodbye – and it would have been to benefit his favorite charity, too.

“Once the family say no there’s nothing we can do.”
