By Marilyn Russell

By Shannon Frost Greenstein

On this week’s show, Marilyn’s first guest is Lisa Marsilio, Chief Operating Officer of Caron Treatment Centers.  Caron strives to improve the lives of those suffering from drug or alcohol addiction through comprehensive behavioral healthcare.  Lisa oversees the entirety of the center’s administrative, operational, and regional recovery strategies, while simultaneously leading the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies.

Next, Marilyn speaks to two of the leaders of AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware, Market Presdient Emmilyn Lawson, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lenaye Lawyer.  Because February is both Black History Month and American Heart Health month, they discuss the disproportionate effect that heart disease has on the African American population, particularly women.  Dr. Lawyer also includes some heart healthy tips, such as increasing exercise, a knowledge of one’s family medical history, and familiarity with one’s own blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI, etc.  The women also speak to their experience as being influential female leaders in the healthcare industry.
