Madonna is limping to the end of the New York portion of her Madame X tour. She had to postpone Monday night’s concert at BAM Howard Gilman Opera House because of a knee injury.

A statement on Madonna’s website says doctors are suggesting rest for three days, putting her on track to be back on-stage for the next scheduled shows on Thursday and Saturday. Those dates had already been rescheduled from last month when the start of the tour was delayed by production issues.

“It’s Hard for Madame X to admit that she is also a human being made of flesh and blood and she must rest for the next 3 days to insure full recovery for her knee,” Madonna added on social media. “I am not a quitter. This hurts me more than you can imagine. It’s time to take those heels and fishnets off for a few days!”

The Madame X tour in support of the new album of the same name has been getting rave reviews, and will move on to the Midwest next week for a 7-date run at the Chicago Theatre. Madonna’s 14th studio LP finds her taking on a new persona that she brings to the stage. The 61-year-old explained the concept when the album was released:

“Madame X is a secret agent traveling around the world, changing identities, fighting for freedom, bringing light to dark places.
Madame X is a dancer, a professor, a head of state, a housekeeper, an equestrian, a prisoner, a student, a mother, a child, a teacher, a nun, a singer, a saint, a whore, and a spy in the house of love. I’m Madame X.”
