Chayse's Story

November 26, 2018

This high school senior spent six months of her life at Children’s Hospital trying to survive and recover from an outbreak of HS also known as hidradenitis suppurativa. HS is a chronic and painful skin condition which occurs in the sweat glands. Affected areas of the skin can actually separate leaving open wounds. Chayse continued working and going to school, pushing through her discomfort until she just couldn’t anymore.

Eventually she was admitted to CHOP and stayed six months.  Ultimately treatment in an oxygen chamber turned things around and she is now doing well and is stable.

Chayse’s mom shares the ways that CHOP’s nurses were instrumental in helping her to endure this ordeal.
