Tired of the Same Old Friday Nights?

From axe throwing to cats--the options are endless!

February 26, 2019

Paying $12 for a movie ticket and then $20 for a tub of popcorn and a drink at the movie theaters might’ve been your idea of a fun Friday night in the past, but all that’s about to change! Philly is a bustling city with plenty to do and I know you can find something else to liven up your Friday night so let’s switch it up a bit. Below is a list of fun and different things you can do with your friends and family so be sure to check them out!

Bowling @ Lucky Strike

There’s nothing like putting on a freshly sprayed pair of bowling shoes that’ll have you energized and excited for a fun night out. Get your bowling buddies together and see who gets the most strikes! The Lucky Strike is a spectacular spot with colorful lights and cool late night vibes. Lucky Strike is also stocked with two full bars, a DJ, lounge seating, pool tables, and ping pong! So what you’re getting is much more than a few good games of bowling—you’re getting an experience!

Axe Throwing @ Urban Axes

Time to let loose and get those axes flying! Competitive Axe Throwing is most definitely a thing and you and your friends can go head to head at Urban Axes. The premise is simple really, you have an axe and a target. Try to throw the axe as close to the bullseye as possible and that’s it! Throwing axes is incredibly therapeutic and a different but exciting way to spend your night out with friends or coworkers! You can also BYOB and let your hair down in Urban Axes’ fun atmosphere.

Drink coffee and play with cats @ Kawaii Kitty Café

At Kawaii Kitty Café, you can sip on your choice of coffee or tea (they’ve got some fun and pretty drinks that are totally Insta-worthy) and play with a cat! You can read your favorite book, work on answering some emails, or just chill as cats roam around the café. If you’re lucky, one might end up in your lap! According to their website, cuddling and petting cats can help lower your heart rate. A major plus if you ask me. So head on over to the website and make a reservation! Demand is unsurprisingly high for this one.

BYOB and make ceramics @ Yay Clay!

Think Painting with a Twist but with ceramics. Grab your favorite bottle of wine and meet your friends over at Yay Clay as you make your own ceramic piece that is totally customized to what you want! The instructors there will be available to help you create the art of your dreams as you laugh and destress with a glass of wine and your friends. Make sure to check out their website for pricing and more info!

See a show @ the Kimmel Center

Check out our complete list of Broadway Philadelphia shows coming to the Kimmel Center this year! There is more than plenty to choose from and other non-Broadway shows to enjoy too! There’s nothing like watching a live performance up on the stage and you can get that right at the Kimmel.

Swing @ the Kimmel Center

The Kimmel Center is offering a FREE interactive exhibit where you can swing while using VR to relive some of your favorite childhood pastimes. The interactive experience is located at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus and is open at different times every day except Tuesdays. Go check it out while it’s still here!
