Feel Good Friday - Jason Marcinkiewicz: Philadelphia’s Firefighter of the Year

Jason Marcinkiewicz is named Philadelphia's 2018 Firefighter of the Year. 

On June 8, the 13-year veteran was on his way to work when he came upon a burning house on Lehigh Avenue near Almond Street in Port Richmond. He noticed two women in panic, poking their heads out of third-floor windows, threatening to jump as smoke billowed out from behind. Lt. Jack Foley, the officer in charge that day, said instincts and training then kicked in.

In addition to the award, Kenney issued a proclamation declaring Oct. 7 to 13 as Fire Prevention Week in Philadelphia.
