Marilyn Russell's Remarkable Women: Garden Logan, Sarah Hart and Beth Lawrence

June 3, 2018

First on the show this week is are two remarkable women from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention -- Area Director Sarah Hart and Public Relations Chair Garden Logan. Their foundation’s annual Overnight Walk is coming up on June 16-17. Many will walk from dusk until dawn in downtown Philadelphia to draw attention to this leading, but preventable cause of death. Currently there are over 1,000 people registered, with more registering every day. These Walkers from Philadelphia, the surrounding area, and from other parts of the country have all also agreed to raise $1000 each in support of the cause, benefitting the nation’s largest suicide prevention organization, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. AFSP funds research, creates educational programs, advocates for public policy, and supports those affected by suicide.

Next is Beth Lawrence, President of Professional Women’s Roundtable. She talks to Marilyn about her organization and their Imposter Syndrome event on Tuesday, June 5th. Beth says so many women suffer from Imposter Syndrome that it often seems as though everyone has a story of feeling unqualified, like we don't belong in our positions, like we're going to be "found out," even when the truth is that we've earned our places and our credentials speak for themselves. Beth and her team ask why do we do this to ourselves and how can we break this cycle and gain the confidence we need to not feel like we constantly have to prove our worth to others, AND to ourselves.
