It's "Philly Loves Bowie" Week!

Things all culminate this weekend with some amazing events!

January 9, 2019

it's #PhillyLovesBowie Week, and that, my friend, is exactly what it sounds like...a Bowie-centric extravaganza celebrating the one and only Major Tom himself, David Bowie.  Bowie, who passed three years ago this month...yes, it HAS been that long...was an iconic, influential, and incredibly talented performer, musician, and personality, and we here at 98.1 WOGL miss him terribly.

That's why we're all over this #PhillyLovesBowie thing.  And you know why else?  Many of the events which charge fees are turning right around and donating that money to CHOP, in David Bowie's memory.  98.1 WOGL loves CHOP...and, thus, this combination is ultra-ultra in our book.

Check out this detailed schedule of the weekend's events, and look for some highlights below!

January 10th:  The 3nd Annual Philly Loves Bowie Memorial, @Doobies at 22nd and Lombard.  Bowie crafts and a giant chalk memorial outside, from 4 p.m. until last call.

January 11th:  A Night of Stardust, @Union Transfer.  The cast for A Night of Stardust is out of this world, featuring local performances by Jeffrey Gaines, Phoebe Legere (NYC), Ari Rubin (Minka) James Michael Baker (Oolala & Johnny Showcase) and Richard Bush.  Arrive early for a silent auction and get a Bowie Bolt painted on your face or body.

January 12th:  Bending with Bowie, @The Performance Garage.  Bowie-themed yoga with a Bowie soundtrack.

January 13th:  A Snowy Bowie Skate, @Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest.  The Bowie Discography will be piped across the rink, Labyrinth will be played inside The Lodge, and family-friendly activities like crafts and face painting will take place from 1-4.
