CHOP Patient Stories: George

We're helping kids like George through the 2019 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon at CHOP

Since 2007, George has been treated at CHOP for Sickle Cell Disease.

He didn't always have a high standard of care. He was born in Africa and his condition was misdiagnosed as Malaria. When his family immigrated to the United States, he was very sick and suffered a stroke. After frequent transfusions, he recovered and has managed his disease with help from CHOP.

Since Sickle Cell prevents him from physical activity, he instead focuses on his academics at college where he is mechanical engineering.

On December 3rd and 4th from 6a-7p, 98.1 WOGL and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia are teaming up to raise money to support patient care programs at CHOP. Learn more here.
